For the last few weeks my boyfriend has been nagging me to complete his one of a kind “Phish” sweatshirt. Phish is a band he’s crazy about, one of those things where it’s an absolute priority to go see them when their in town. I like some of their stuff, but their a little too jammy for me.
Any who, he came up with this brilliant idea a few weeks ago to use one of the sweatshirts he had gotten for free down at school and combine it with a Phish tee-shirt.
He found the vintage Phish shirt off of eBay for a good deal and along with the hoodie and thread, that was all the material needed to kick of this fashion re-vamping.
To be honest it was a pretty well thought out plan. He seems to come up with these ideas and expects me, the artsy-sewer-wannabe-home designer to bring them too fruition. I enjoy it, so I consent happily.
In order to begin the project I simply folded back the tee-shirt into a square shape and laid it out to get a basic idea of how it would line up.
From there I cut out the entire front graphic and made sure to leave a little bit of the white along the border.
Cutting with my fabric scissors I tried to keep a straight line, knowing that even a slightly crooked snip would come out looking fine.
I went on to secure the graphic with enough pins to make sure the material wouldn’t shift on me as I was sewing, which didn’t take long at all. I used the same off white color as the tee shirt for the thread and followed the border as I went along.
Above you can see the finished product! The only added touch was the black hoodie string taken from a different sweatshirt. What was an otherwise standard give away for an off-campus housing fair is now an awesome “Phish” hoodie!
